Our Mission and Core Principles
Mahogany was created to increase mental health education and therapeutic engagement within diverse communities using a relatable and holistic approach to healing. We specialize in helping adolescents, adults and families navigate change and transitions brought on by the effects of trauma, mental illness, counter-productive intergenerational patterns, and general life developments.
Using frameworks based in Psychodynamic, Cognitive, Behavioral, Relational and Sensorimotor Therapy, clients are not only students but also teachers through the exploration of themes and patterns related to their family of origin, life experiences, thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviors. By being an active participant in treatment, our hope is that every client learns that they possess the power to understand themselves and make personal contributions to any positive change desired for their mental wellness. We pride ourselves on our mission to help strengthen diverse communities through healing its members from the inside.
To protect the integrity of Mahogany’s mission, our therapeutic work with clients centers around three core principles:
-
That there is something within theses four areas: cognitive (thinking), behavioral (actions), intrapersonal (relationship with self) or interpersonal (relationship with others) that is having an undesired impact on how you’re function within your environment.
-
It is the understanding that with increased knowledge around core issues, daily modifications will have to be made to overcome challenging areas within your life.
-
This is your commitment to yourself, that you will learn and implement new ways of living to maintain your ideal level of mental and emotional wellness.
